Trendy Time Tellers

Fashion accessories are decorative items that supplement and complement clothes. Among which include jewelry, gloves, handbags, hats, belts, scarves, watches, sunglasses, pins, stockings, bow ties, leg warmers, leggings, neckties, eyeglasses, suspenders, and tights. Big Boy Shoes!

Girls have been overly obsessed over shoes. They have been buying and buying like there’s no tomorrow, scavenging every store, bazaar and outlet looking for that pair that fits their personality style and fashion. But now it’s the guys turn! BSB brings you the latest fashion trend on guy foot wear in the Ateneo.

BSB is proud to present:

DANIEL VELASCO

II-AB IS

What is fashion for you? Well it’s basically matching and pairing what looks good together. Of course it has to compliment not on yourself but also every piece of clothing you are wearing.

Are shoes important for you? Yes! It is very important. It’s like the “cherry on top” it can make your whole look stand out or maybe even ruin it.

What type of shoes do you prefer? Anything actually, any style as long as it fits what I wear. I wear anything from sneakers to flats to boat shoes.

Style or comfort? Definitely style, nothing beats it. I rather have a nice shoe that’s uncomfortable (but not too uncomfortable) than an ugly shoe that’s so comfortable.

What’s the best thing you like about shoes? The variety! It’s fun to just mix and match with the outfits!

                                                                                                       Miguel Monfort

                                      III AB IS

What is fashion for you? Fashion is how you use your clothes to show your personality to people.

Are shoes important for you? Yes, because shoes is the most used clothing when you go out.

What type of shoes do you prefer? Rubber shoes/Casual.

Style or comfort? Comfort, because that’s the most used part when people go out so it should be comfortable.

What’s the best thing you like about shoes? I like them because they are unique and good quality shoes lasts long.

Paolo Avecilla

   II BS MGT

What is fashion for you? For me, fashion is something is personal. A lot of people have different opinions regarding which look is best and worst. However, I think that the most important part of fashion is self-confidence in your own style.

Are shoes important for you? Shoes are very important for me because aside from it giving you protection, it makes you look more sophisticated.

What type of shoes do you prefer? I prefer sneakers. I like sneakers because they’re easy to match with whatever a person is wearing. And Flats also because they are comfortable.

Style or comfort? Comfort over style, but there should still be style left. Ugly shoes are not comfortable to the eyes.

What’s the best thing you like about shoes? The best thing I like about shoes is that there are a lot of kinds. There are shoes specifically designed to match whatever you are going to do. (eg. rubber shoes for sports, sneakers for casual days)

We all love our school bags for different reasons. Speaking from Fr. Dacanay’s lecture love is based on both symbol (material base) and meaning. Our bags carry our pile of readings, textbooks, notebooks, collection of pens, wallets, umbrella, water supply, health kit, calculator, phone, laptops . . . Sure they may cause our shoulder to become sore from time to time but they protect our baggage from the sun and rain. That’s the point of the bag, really.

They make school life a little bit better. If sadistic profs give us a truck load of reading, then, hey, at least we won’t have to carry it around. A quiz gone wrong? No problem, just chunk it in a small compartment (forget about it) and let your mind move on from the trauma. If it’s raining, just zip in your phone to keep it warm and dry.

Need I say more to stress how a good, quality school bag should be invested in with care?

They are generic, common, and there are instances when at least three others people around campus would have the exact same brand/style as your bag, but it’s the meaning they have to the individual that makes it special. That’s why we love our bags!

Sometimes we change bags like clothes, sometimes we use them till they’re torn and are in need of mending. Nevertheless, bags are faithful to their user’s needs. They are an extension of our character in most cases—our channel of self-expression.

Boys like sturdy, macho bags (usually in dark, solid colors like black and grays), while some girls go for more style (whether it compliments their outfits) and less on the storage capabilities. Other girls go for big backpacks to save them the trouble regardless if their bags match their outfits at all. And of course, some people (ahem, dormers) don’t even bother with a bag!

Our school bags are what we are or who we want to be. From stylish to sturdy; big to small; sling, backpack, shoulder, or carry-on, they showcase our character and our individual preferences. So the next time it rains, let’s all take the time to wipe our bags dry and take care of them as a sign of appreciation for the faithful service.

Uniform in Function

Ahh The month of June, where ‘Back to School’ season returns once again! A new beginning indeed! New friends. New teachers. New Semester! Need I mention a New Wardrobe too?

One thing exciting about going to college is being free from having to wear those structured clothing commonly termed as uniforms.  Some may beg to differ that the point of wearing a uniform, is to take out much of the thought process that goes into figuring out what to wear everyday. In the case of students, uniforms restrict one’s opportunity for self-expression as it reduces you to being a minimalist in either a number or a nametag. Still carrying with you school spirit and pride, Uniforms call attention to the fact that even though you are wearing the same thing everyday,  Simplicity can be turned to beauty.

What better way to invite the freshmen to start their school year in style not only by participating in organizations but also by showcasing the trendiest school wear for 2011 during Ateneo’s Recweek: Chromazone. The short fashion show presented the ‘Casual and Comfy’ vibe that should represent every Atenean’s fashionable school get-up! Selected Freshmen and Sophomores carrying the latest bag collections from High Sierra modelled their way to confidence by painting the town red flaunting a Soft Feminine look in a Chiffon Dress/ Crop Top paired with denim shorts, a Nautical look in a Striped long sleeved paired with high waist pants and a Technicolor Scream in a Neon- Colored Vneck shirt paired with denim shorts for the girls. Meanwhile, the guys walk in confidence sporting a Simple yet Shufflin’ look in Statement Shirts and Plaid Polos.

So Hats off, Pop your collar, Shades off and let’s take a trip down fashion lane to see what the School Wear trends of 2011 have to offer!:)

Laid-Back Lounging

Miguel Totanes

4 AB IS

“Join our org” was what Miguel Totanes uttering when we saw him at RecWeek and bluestylebubbles’s response was: “You should be in our blog”. What caught our eyes was his sense of style and feel of confidence on persuading people.

When asked why he dressed that way for the day was because of the hot weather and that his V-neck shirt was due to the fact that he felt more comfortable wearing V-neck shirts than polo shirts. The shades have a dual purpose. The first purpose is to protect his eyes from the glares of the sun; secondly, to increase his sense of style and to complement his shirt.

Is he a trend follower? He said he tries but the most important thing is that he should feel comfortable on the things he wears. This feeling of comfort of course increases confidence and confidence is needed when one is trying to attract girls.

When asked what his sense of style was, he said that he prefers to be laid-back and simple. He just mix and match, wearing things he feels like wearing. This might be the reason why he wore boat shoes, which is a classic footwear for style.

Fashion Feature Friday: FAYmme Flora

                                                      FAY PUA

                                                          1-AB COM

Fresh Fab Freshie, Fay Pua, An AB-Communication major really knows how to communicate her sense of style! Spotted at the Ateneo’s Recweek 2011:Chromazone, Fay flaunts a purple floral chiffon dress, a medium-sized tote bag and brown open-toe flat sandal. Read on to get to know more about Fay’s stylish school get-up!:)

Do you usually wear dresses in school?

Yes, I prefer wearing dresses rather than shirts or tank tops because of the humid weather in The Ateneo.

What type of clothes do you like wearing and we usually see Fay in?

I usually wear and am into Feminine clothes.

Do your clothes say a lot about you?

Yes, I want to be known for being unpredictable at times. The reason why I wear these types of clothes is to depict my mood for the day depending at times on the weather and to people who don’t know me, the way I dress up will be an instrument to get to know more about me because I believe that my way of clothing expresses and says much about who I am as a person.

Any fashion icons you look up to?

I admire Blake Lively for always being unpredictable and fearless. Kate Moss for her effortlessly chic ensembles!

What is Fashion to you?

Self-expression without having to say a word. Style has everything to do with class (or lack thereof) and confidence! 😉

Truly, Fashion has proven to be an outlet for self-expression and a way to get to know one’s personality by expressing his/her identity by the way a person dresses up. Much like Fay in her unique feminine floral ensemble that make her a true bella indeed!:D

Rawr ah a… Arezo

How timely, as Ateneans are buzzing with excitement with the hype of Recweek. BSB joined in the hype and we dropped by MVP Roofdeck to spy on and ambush fashionista-Atenistas busily occupied with joining orgs.

One thing that caught our attention was animal prints. We saw this girl clad in an animal print top and we just had to approach her for an interview.

Arezo Halabisaz
3- BS MGT

Leggings or jeggings, a loose top and a big bag, that’s what make up Arezo’s usual get-up. Shorts are not much of an option for her. “I’m SOM kasi and diba we have a dresscode plus I don’t wear shorts much. I wear them, but rarely. I’m shy kasi. (laughs) And I like loose tops cause the weather’s hot and bagay for breezy clothing.”

“I usually bring a big bag cause it’s handy and I can put a lot of stuff inside.”

From the looks of her accessories, it seems this girl likes simple, classy yet useful pieces. Take for example her classy watch, her comfortable flats, her cute owl ring and her big you-can-dump-stuff-inside bag.

Her style? Anything-goes. 🙂
